🎲 Welcome to Las Vegas!

Built in the middle of the desert, borderless, adorned with colors, lights, and visual shows, also known as 'Sin City' or Las Vegas! If you want to witness a different world, we are going to the middle of the ''Nevada'' desert for this stop that you should definitely visit on your Western American trip!

There are no direct flights from Turkey to Las Vegas. The most logical thing to do is to fly from Istanbul to Los Angeles, spend a few days there, and then drive 4-5 hours to Vegas.

Vegas is located in the middle of the Mojave Desert in Nevada. The city's population, including the metropolitan area, is approximately 2.2 million people. It is based on tourism, gambling, conventions and entertainment and is one of the largest convention and exhibition centers in the United States. It is 10 hours behind Türkiye.

If you are wondering how far you can go in terms of hotel and entertainment, you should go to Las Vegas. This is a place where you break away from reality and step into an artificial dream world. In Las Vegas, hotels are talked about more than streets. Because in this city, each hotel gives the feeling of entering a different universe. The hotels are so diverse: Paris streets, New York avenues, Venice canals, Egyptian pyramids… A city where you can find famous world countries all together.

So what is there in this colorful dream set in the middle of the desert, how to get around, what to pay attention to, what to eat and drink? I explain them all one by one in this article.

🎰✨ If you are ready, fill your suitcase with your imagination, let's explore the glittering world of Las Vegas together!

Las Vegas

“Las Vegas” means “ fertile valleys ” in Spanish. The history of Las Vegas began far from its current glamorous state. In the mid-1800s, Las Vegas was a stopover point for traders coming from Mexico due to its proximity to water sources. With the arrival of the railroad line in 1905, Las Vegas began to grow as a town. 1931 is the most critical date for Las Vegas! The state of Nevada legalized gambling and the construction of Hoover Dam began that same year. After the 1940s, with the influence of the Mafia (especially Bugsy Siegel), the first luxury hotels and casinos were opened. Vegas became an attraction center with shows, artists, and cabarets. After 1990, thanks to the concept hotels of giants such as Disney and theme park-style Strip hotels, Las Vegas has become an entertainment capital for families, couples, and tourists.

🎰 Guide to Places to Visit in Las Vegas “What to Do in Las Vegas?”

🎲 The Strip – Where the Heart of Vegas Beats

The heart of the city is Las Vegas Boulevard, or "The Strip"; this giant boulevard, where famous hotels are lined up side by side, fascinates people with its sparkle. It is a 6.8 km long street filled with giant hotels, restaurants, casinos and lights. The Las Vegas Strip is actually like an open-air museum in itself. It offers an experience like walking from hotel to hotel and being transported to different countries.

  • 🎰 Bellagio Fountain Show

  • 🗽 New York - New York Hotel

  • 🗼 Paris Las Vegas & Eiffel Tower Experience

  • 🎭 The Venetian

  • Vegas

🌆 Fremont Street Experience – The Heart of Old Vegas

In Downtown Vegas, this street covered with LED screens awaits you with a light, sound and street show experience. Definitely go here at night, you can never experience that atmosphere during the day! It is not as flashy as the Strip but it has its own spirit. Street artists, neon lights, flying people…

What to do here?

  • Light shows and live music (especially in the evening).

  • Stop by the Neon Museum: A great open-air museum displaying old Vegas signs.

  • Zipline: Fly over Fremont on a zipline? Yes, it's possible!

Fremont St.

🟠 Sphere Las Vegas – Las Vegas’ Next Generation Entertainment Icon

Las Vegas was already an extreme city… But Sphere came and took flight! They combined technology with art, light and sound in such a way that it makes you say, “I’ve never seen anything like it.” Sphere , which opened in 2023, has become one of the most striking structures in Las Vegas. This giant spherical structure, approximately 112 meters high and 157 meters wide, is the largest spherical building in the world. When you look from the outside, a giant digital sphere; during the day, it turns into a giant emoji, a space view, waves or a giant golf ball at night! Inside, you watch mind-blowing audio-visual shows with a capacity of 18,000 people, a giant screen with 16K resolution and a 4D sound system.

🎯 Where? Right behind the Venetian Hotel, also known as MSG Sphere

🎫 Entry Fee – varies depending on the show (usually $50-150)

👀 What to Watch?

  • The most popular one right now is an experiential film called "Postcard From Earth" . It's not a movie, it's like you're inside the planet and breathing.

  • Occasionally, concerts of famous artists such as U2 are held here.

💡 My suggestion:

Buy your tickets in advance, it gets crowded especially on weekends. If you want to see it from outside without buying a ticket, go at night, the light shows are much more impressive.

Upcoming Events : In 2025, an enhanced version of The Wizard of Oz , produced by Warner Bros. Discovery in collaboration with Google, will premiere on the Sphere. The experience will be enhanced with ultra-high-definition visuals and environmental effects.

📸 “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” Sign

Proof that you're in Vegas! Located about 200 meters from the Mandalay Bay Hotel, posing in front of this iconic sign is definitely a classic.

LAS VEGAS

🏁 Speed Vegas – Experience the Adrenaline!

Just 10-15 minutes from the Strip, Speed Vegas Motorsports Park is a true paradise for speed enthusiasts. Here, you can drive 40 exotic supercars, from Ferraris to Lamborghinis, Porsches to Corvettes, at full speed on a smooth 12 km track. For those who want to race fast, get their heart racing, or make their supercar dreams come true, the stop is definitely “Speed Vegas”! I was terrified when I first got in, but once you get used to it, you won’t want to get out of the car. It was an experience we’re glad we did.

SPEED VEGAS

⛰️ Red Rock Canyon – Nature’s Vegas Side

If you want to get away from gambling and the crowds and take a breather, you can rent a car and reach this natural wonder in 30-40 minutes.

Ideal for hiking, photography and sunsets. Entrance fee (approximately $15 per vehicle).

It is best to go early in the summer, be careful of the midday heat.

🎡 High Roller – Giant Ferris Wheel

The LINQ is located behind the hotel and offers views of the Strip from a height of 167 meters. There is a happy hour cabin version in the evenings!

🎟️ Las Vegas Shows – Must-See Show in Las Vegas!

One of the top things to do in Las Vegas is definitely seeing a show!

This city is not only filled with gambling, but also with stage performances that push the boundaries in terms of visuals. Las Vegas is perhaps the city that offers the most stage shows in the world. There is something for every taste. Must-see shows:

  • Cirque du Soleil (It, Ka, Mystère, Beatles Love etc.) – Each one a masterpiece.

  • Famous artists such as Adele, Lady Gaga and Usher give "residency" concerts from time to time.

  • Magic Mike Live, David Copperfield – Magical or fun alternatives.

And the most ambitious name in this business is undoubtedly:🎪 Cirque du Soleil

This world-famous show group performs around 7-8 different shows with different themes in Vegas. Each one has a completely different concept and is a visual feast. Some of the most popular shows are:

  • “It” – Aquatic themed, performed at the Bellagio.

  • “Ka” – Action packed, we watched it at the MGM Grand Hotel, it blew our minds!

  • “Love” – Beatles themed, dance and nostalgia all rolled into one.

  • “Mystère” – Colorful, energetic, classic Cirque vibe.

💡 The shows are staged in the theaters of the big hotels and are usually played on certain days of the week. So if you want to watch legendary shows like “O” or “Ka”, you should plan your days in Las Vegas according to this calendar!

🎟️ Ticket Prices and Recommendations

  • Average ticket price: between 65 – 170 USD .

  • If you buy early, your chances of finding a better and more suitable seat increase.

  • As the show day approaches, prices can increase, and some days are completely sold out.

Perhaps the most famous casino in Vegas. That water show we see in the movies is here! Pool dancing , stylish decoration, luxurious atmosphere. 🚗 Transportation in Las Vegas – How to Get Around the City?

International flights take you directly to Harry Reid International Airport (formerly McCarran). The airport is very close to the Strip. Las Vegas has a busy but organized tourist scene, especially along the Strip. So renting a car is not usually necessary , but it can be advantageous in some cases. Once in town: Take a taxi, Uber or Lyft. Some hotels offer free shuttles.

  • If you are just going to explore the Strip and surrounding area - then no car needed.

  • If you are going to do some sightseeing such as Fremont Street, Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam - it might make sense to rent a car.

We stayed at Palms Palace as an airbnb . I left the link. We were very pleased. The advantage of being on a high floor is that the city view is perfect in the evening. Of course, I don't think you will be sitting in the room.

🗓️ When to Go?

Las Vegas has a desert climate. Summers are very hot (up to 40°C). The desert climate of Las Vegas can bring "scorching heat" during the summer months. July and August, when temperatures reach 40 degrees, make daytime activities especially difficult. Therefore, the best time to visit is:

  • March - May (Spring)

  • September - November (Autumn) .

💡 Tip: Hotel prices increase during holiday periods, big congress times and weekends. Early booking is a lifesaver!

Tip Corner – Tips for Dining in Las Vegas

  • Restaurants on the Strip are generally expensive. The same chain restaurants may be 20-30% cheaper outside the Strip.

  • Make a reservation through OpenTable or Resy. It's hard to find a spot spontaneously, especially in the evening.

  • Don't miss out on Happy Hour opportunities. Between 16:00 and 18:00, most restaurants have affordable cocktail and snack menus.

With this list, you won't be hungry in Vegas, but you'll most likely experience a calorie explosion ! 😄
